Meet the two-place BD-18 – Modular Design Means a Fast Build for a Truly modern Home-Built Plane
In 1960, Jim Bede designed the two-place BD-1, which became the Grumman Yankee. Designer Jim Bede took the Yankee and made it stronger, simpler and more efficient. He designed it so that it can be easily built and maintained at home. It is an ideal, personal aircraft. The BD-18 is a faster, simpler and a lighter Yankee thanks to fast-build modular construction techniques. As good as the Yankee is, the BD-18 will cost appreciably less to own and operate. It has a much larger cabin than the Yankee and will be able to utilize a variety of power plants. Throw your clubs in with your luggage. It has a large baggage compartment, is IFR instrument-capable, and can be configured as a tri-gear or a tail dragger to suit your individual desires. Learn more about the BD-18.
