BD-17 Nugget

BD-17 The BD-17 is one of a pair of new designs from famed aeronautical designer Jim Bede. This single-seat low-wing metal high-performance aircraft has unmatched range, speed and utility. It offers fast build time, low maintenance, and thrifty performance for sport pilots, or anyone with a need to cover a large territory efficiently and economically. Its big brother, the two-place BD-18, was unveiled this year at the Oshkosh EAA fly-in.

BUILD IT AT HOME
Available with either 60 hp HKS-700, or 80 and 120 hp Jabiru two cylinder air-cooled engines. The BD-17 can be built with professional assistance in as little as two weeks, or you can build it at home in under 200 hours, in either tail wheel or tricycle landing gear configuration. All construction conforms to the FAA requirement, that you complete 51 percent of your aircraft in the experimental category.

LONG-RANGE CAPABILITIES
The BD-17 boasts a 340-Lb. useful weight capacity, unmatched cockpit space and visibility and a ton of room for avionics including IFR. Whether you're patrolling a pipeline, or hunting for strays over the vast reaches of a Texas ranch, you need this aircraft. It can loiter over five hours in slow flight above its 45 knot flaps-down stalling speed, accelerate to a 150 mph-plus cruise, and covers 700 miles on a single tank of fuel.

CHEAP TO BUILD, MAINTAIN AND FLY
You can build the BD-17 complete from $29,975 to $36,975, depending on the engine and options you select. You can do the job yourself in 200-man hours, or ask for dealer assistance to speed the process. Simple construction, use of modern building techniques, and ease of maintenance make the BD-17 one of the most economical-to-fly planes in the air.
